Abstract The seeds, oil, and protein of A. graveolens (Malvaceae) were analyzed. The oil and protein contents of the seeds were 15.5% and 17.2%, resp. The oil had a sapon. value of 192.7 and an I value of 96.5. The major fatty acids (in %) were 18:2 (42.9), 16:0 (32.2), and 18:1 (16.0). Small quantities of malvalic (0.5%), dihydrosterculic (2.5%), and epoxy (1.5%) acids were also present. The major essential amino acids were lysine, histidine, phenylalanine, and threonine
