Abstract Chemical characterization of seeds of L. mammosa [ Pouteria sapota] showed that the unsaponifiable fraction of the oil had a very high erythrodiol content. Data on fatty acid and sterol composition are tabulated. The seeds came from El Salvador where the oil is used to improve hair growth.
