Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract A fatty acid found in the seed oil of Ixora chinensis was shown to be the hitherto unknown cis, cis, cis, trans-8,10,12,14- octadecatetraenoic acid, (for convenience, it is named ixoric acid). Another known naturally occurring unusual fatty acid, crepenynic acid (octadec-cis-9-en- 1 2-ynoic acid), also occurred in the seed oil. Both acids were the major components and comprised up to ca 70% of the total fatty acids derived from the oil. © 1990.
